For the fourth year in a row, Intribe's CEO Mirna Pacchetti has been named among StartupItalia's Unstoppable Women, a group of professionals, innovators, creatives, entrepreneurs, managers and founders who have distinguished themselves for their ability to give voice to the female narrative in the world of entrepreneurship.
In Italy, only one in five businesses is run by a woman.
Data from Unioncamere, recorded at the end of September 2022, tells us that there were 1.342 million businesses led by women, representing 22.18% of all businesses in our country. A scenario that puts us at the back of the queue compared to other European Union countries, which have an average percentage of women-owned businesses of around 32%.
When it comes to startups, the data shows a slight increase: at the end of September 2022, there were 2,000 innovative startups led by women, an increase of 572 compared to the same period in 2019.
There is still plenty of room for improvement. In the US, 71% of startups do not have a single woman on their board of directors. More worryingly, 57% of startups have no women in any of their executive positions.
Looking at Europe, the data is no better: only 7% of companies are led by female CEOs and women still earn less than their male counterparts (for the same jobs).
Yet the rise of women entrepreneurs can be a powerful lever. 38% of female entrepreneurs have a workforce composed mainly of other women, a figure that ranges from 75% to 100%.
With the list, StartupItalia wants to bring to light authentic testimonies of competence, leadership and impact, with the aim of giving the female narrative in the world of entrepreneurship the depth it deserves.
